SOFT REGGAE

One of Sonny’s most successful soft reggae artists in the 1980’s was Tim Chandell.  A series of albums were produced by Sonny, which were extremely popular with the West Indian community in the U.K, Europe and the U.S.A

You Gonna Hurt Me So was Tim Chandell's second album. Sonny produced a series of five albums with Tim.

In 1987, Sonny produced a hit record “Can’t Be With You Tonight" by Judy Boucher, which reached the U.K British Charts at No.2. This single holds the record for being the first Caribbean female singer to have the longest stay in the British national charts for 15 weeks.  A major hit record by a “global pop star” prevented Sonny from charting a No.1 record slot.
